I've been working on my senior project. I plan on making a podcast, discussing how student's can balance both school and being employed. The senior project has been something I've been looking forward to because I understand how big of a passing requirement it is. Since last year I've been employed and I've had many friends who have had difficulty balancing their school work while also maintaining a busy work schedule. I for one haven't had such difficulty. I plan on interviewing student employees, teachers, guidance counselors, and parents.

The first quarter has come to an end, and for the first time in all of my years in high school, this is the first time I end a quarter with A's and B's. Granted, I have much fewer classes than I'm used to. I've been able to stay on top of majority of my work, which is something that I would often struggle with throughout the years. Having fewer classes definitely makes things easier for me, it also gives me more motivation to end the year with good grades all around. Now I don't feel as though there's an excuse to not get work done. The workload in my classes has been fairly manageable, no one class has given me an over abundance of work with a short amount of time to get it done. So, as the first quarter ends, I've proven to myself that I can maintain A's and B's, so I plan on continuing down this path for the entirety of the school year.
Going into the new school year, a lot has changed. Due to COVID-19, opening schools back up was a little worrisome. Many believe it'll just cause the virus to spread. I chose to remain online schooling for my own benefit. I work better when I am able to go at my own pace and work in my comfortable surroundings. Being at the comfort of my own home is appealing to me. So far, my senior is off to a strange start. My schedule was completely rearranged a day before school started..which made things confusing for me. Overall my classes are all fairly manageable.
Music, to me, is almost a necessity. I've loved music for as long as I can remember. My music taste has completely changed throughout the years however. I never used to appreciate just how much effort goes into records. When I eventually found out about psychedelic rock and indie, my entire perspective on music changed. I've since wanted to learn how to play drums, and maybe a tiny bit of guitar. My cousin and I have both always had ambitions of created some sort of music, and whenever we collaborate our ideas we always come up with really creative sounds.
Roughly 2-3 weeks remain in the school year. Part of me believes that had it not been for COVID-19, I would not have been able to successfully passed all of my classes. The online schooling, granted it be often tedious or confusing, was the only way I actually managed to complete assignments. Granted, some assignments are late, however I try my hardest most of the time on them. Lately I have just reflected on my high school experience so far. It started off rough, but now part of me wants to believe I'm on a much better path.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak, many people were left temporarily without a job. This week however, many places began to slowly re-open. My mom, who's a hairdresser, was allowed to go back to work finally. The only problem is that she has an overwhelming amount of clients, which is putting stress on her. At Chipotle, customers are allowed to order in stores, they just cannot dine in the restaurant.
This week my school work was all for the most part completed. There had to be a few changes made on my part, but other than that, every assignment was attempted at the very least. Everything's blooming, I've been walking to my job often just because of how nice it has been lately. Places are starting to open back up slowly but surely, even though it's going to be some time before everything goes back to normal.
I've noticed that ever since the covid-19 outbreak, students have never been more conflicted. Online schooling can be beneficial for many students, considering there's no more going to school and that all classes are online and in front of you. But at the same time, some students feel as though they are not benefiting greatly. The lack of physical teaching has made it harder for some students to learn. There's only roughly one more full month of school left, and every assignment needs to be completed in order to pass the year. Some students have held everything off, and some students have completed every assignment without question.
We're all stuck in our houses. Well, maybe not for some of us. Some of us might still be going about life as if nothing has happened. Most of us are in our houses for 95% of the day, and there shouldn't be anything bad to be said about that either. There are some people stocking up on everything they can because they are currently living in fear of this pandemic, yet there are also people who are living in practically no fear at all. Obviously there's no justification for those people who deliberately cough near others with the intent to cause fear or to even potentially spread disease. Towards the beginning of this pandemic, it appeared that the U.S. was split in two halves, rather than working together to help end this pandemic. As of late, things seem to be headed in a little bit of a hopeful direction, but we still aren't sure what's going to happen.
I've worked at Chipotle for almost a year now. I've learned a lot while working their and I enjoy my time working their greatly. However, I didn't know I was an essential worker. When COVID-19 hit, and when things became very serious, I learned that I was still able to work. Due to everybody being quarantined inside their homes, the only way to order Chipotle is through an app of some sorts. Customers can only come into our restaurant to pick up their food...that's it. With the lack of customers, it definitely takes the potential "edge" off of employees. We don't have to speak to any customers, and we can work at a much faster and rapid pace.
